Graham Spanier papers, 1972-2007.

This collection consists of papers pertaining to Graham B. Spanier and his role as Penn State's president. The collection includes biographical information, newspaper clippings and magazine articles (1972-2006), correspondence and invitations (1973-2001), text of Spanier's State of the University Addresses (1995-2007), press releases (1980-2000), and a presentation of his plans for the commonwealth campuses. There are also some materials from his time as Chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (1991-1994) and the transcript of the 2004 hearing, "Peer-to-Peer Piracy on University Campuses."

Graham Spanier was born July 18, 1948 in Cape Town, South Africa, where his father had escaped from Nazi Germany. He grew up on the south side of Chicago, graduated from Iowa State University (B. A., sociology with minor in psychology and mathematics, 1969; M.A. sociology, 1971) and Northwestern University (Ph.D., sociology,1973).
